57 Emerge Winners of SOBIC 7th Scholarship Awards

Fifty-seven  students have emerged as winners of the 7th edition of the SOBIC Microfinance Institution Scholarship Awards, held on Friday, 19 December 2025, at the company’s headquarters in Ibadan.

The awardees were selected from various locations where SOBIC branches operate across the country, following a qualifying examination. The scholarship scheme is part of SOBIC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at ensuring inclusive, equitable, and quality education while promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all by 2030, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4.

With the conclusion of the 7th edition, the total number of beneficiaries of the SOBIC Scholarship Award has increased to two hundred and fifty-two (252) students since the programme’s maiden edition in 2016. The scholarship is a special benefit extended to the children of SOBIC customers and covers the cost of their Senior Secondary School examinations.

For the 2025 edition, beneficiaries from Ogun State include Adekunle Jamiu, Adelani Isaih Opeyemi, Adelani Abigael Adewunmi, Jimoh Oluwatimileyin Michael, and Shittu Mariam Aderayo from Shagamu; Adedeji Inioluwa Elisha, Olamilekan Adeniyi, Olatokunbo Wareez, and Onyi Favour Nmasoma from Ijebu Ode; Mathew Okikioluwa, Mohammed Kaosara Omowunmi, and Ayankoya Olayinka Elizabeth from Mowe; and Adelakun Stephen Iyanuolwa from Abeokuta.

Beneficiaries from Ondo State include Oyeleke Oyelekan Olatubosun and Omosebi Aduramigba Precious from Akure; Akinboro Jomiloju and Oduyemi Temiloluwa from Ondo City; Dauda Happiness Isaac, Adebayo Omotoyosi, and Obadaye Oluwafisayomi Shalom from Owo; Aribisala Daniel, Jimoh Fathia Boluwatife, Olatubosun Olakunle, Reuben Kehinde Oluwatobi, Fatanmi Abiola Abiodun, Adedokun Segun Ezekiel, Reuben Taiwo Oyindamola, Wasiu Kadijat, and Umukoro Miracle Eloho from Ore; as well as Ojopagogo Cornelius Adeyiwola, Owolabi Iyanuoluwa, and Igbekoyi Victor from Idanre.

Other beneficiaries include Oladejo Esther Wuraola from Ado-Ekiti; Oladunsin Testimony from Modakeke; Agochi Divine, Adetoro Precious Aliyah, and Awoyele Samuel from Ile-Ife; Idris Issa and Mercy Sunday from Ilorin; and Shodiya Mary, Adebowale Rita Adesola, John Covenant, Oke Kehinde, Oni Favour, and Ibrahim Princess from Ikorodu, Lagos State.

From Oyo State, beneficiaries include Ogundare Fatimoh Eniola and Wasiu Zainub from Iseyin; as well as Shokoya Racheal, Afolabi Temilade Deborah, Folorunsho Gift Opeyemi, Aliu Sukurat Oyinkansola, Kolawole Christianah Oluwabukola, Abdulrasheed Wasilat Oyindamola, Aderibigbe Damaris Teniola, Ohonyon Ayomikun Timothy, Owolabi Kamorudeen, and Adeoye Gift Erioluwa from Ibadan.

In his address, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of SOBIC, Pastor Kehinde Adejumo, FCA, MCIB, encouraged the beneficiaries to prepare diligently for their forthcoming examinations in order to excel. He further reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustaining the scholarship programme as part of its contribution towards achieving the United Nations SDGs, particularly in the area of education.

The awards were presented to Ibadan-based beneficiaries by the Executive Director, Mrs Olubunmi Adejumo, while awardees from other locations joined the event virtually. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr Olurotimi Kuti, a Non-Executive Director of the organization, alongside other distinguished guests.
