A governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Barrister Niyi Aborisade (BANA), has charged party faithful and residents to sustain mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 election, declaring that the party is gaining momentum across the state.
Aborisade, a human rights activist, historian and lawyer, spoke after the party concluded its senatorial stakeholders’ meetings, the last of which held in Oyo North Senatorial District at Iseyin.
“We are just coming from Oyo North Senatorial District meeting held at Iseyin. We have concluded the three senatorial meetings today. The ADC is marching forward; the awareness is there,” he said.
The aspirant described the turnout at the meeting as encouraging, noting that the growing crowds signalled expanding grassroots acceptance of the party’s message across the state.
According to him, the consolidation of meetings across the three senatorial districts marks a strategic step in strengthening party structures and deepening engagement with communities ahead of the governorship race.
Aborisade urged supporters not to relent, emphasising that sustained grassroots work, unity and voter education would be crucial in translating growing awareness into electoral victory.
He also commended the state leadership of the party, particularly the Oyo State Chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Yinka Olona, whom he said expressed delight at the turnout.
“Alhaji Yinka Olona was beaming with smiles when he saw the mammoth crowd,” Aborisade said, adding that the chairman made a clarion call to residents of the state to embrace the party and vote massively for the ADC in the coming election.
Olona, according to him, stressed that unity remains central to overcoming political adversaries and repositioning the state.
Aborisade maintained that the ADC was building what he described as a people-driven movement anchored on inclusiveness and democratic participation. He said the party’s statewide mobilisation reflected a shared desire for alternative leadership and renewed governance.
The 2027 governorship contest in Oyo State is expected to draw significant attention as political parties intensify internal consultations and grassroots engagements.
