The Oyo State Security Network Agency, also known as the Amotekun Corps, has congratulated Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo State on the occasion of the state’s 50th anniversary, describing the Golden Jubilee as a landmark achievement in its political and developmental history.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the State Commandant, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (Rtd.), the agency said the celebration reflects the resilience, unity, and steady progress recorded by the state over the past five decades.
According to the statement, the anniversary provides an opportunity for residents to reflect on Oyo State’s journey since its creation in 1976 and to recommit to the ideals of peace, development, and collective responsibility.
“The Golden Jubilee is a historic milestone that mirrors the perseverance and growth of Oyo State. It is a moment for thanksgiving and renewed dedication to the values that have sustained the Pacesetter State,” the agency said.
The Amotekun Corps reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, stressing its resolve to sustain peace, safety, and public order across the state in collaboration with other security agencies.
The agency noted that effective security remains fundamental to socio-economic development, adding that its officers would continue to work round the clock to ensure that residents and investors enjoy a safe and stable environment.
It further described it as a rare privilege that Oyo State is marking its Golden Jubilee under the administration of Governor Makinde, acknowledging what it termed his remarkable achievements in governance.
According to Amotekun, the present administration has recorded significant progress in civil service reforms, economic growth, urban renewal, and infrastructure development, while also strengthening peace and security. The agency noted that these efforts have collectively accelerated sustainable development and enhanced the quality of life of residents.
“The leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE, has repositioned Oyo State for inclusive growth and long-term stability. His policies and programmes have continued to promote accountability, efficiency, and people-centred governance,” the statement added.
The security outfit also pledged continued loyalty to the government and the people, promising to intensify community engagement, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with sister agencies to tackle emerging security threats.
It stressed that the safety of citizens remains its top priority, noting that a peaceful environment is indispensable for investment, tourism, and social harmony.
In a message rendered in Yoruba, the agency expressed optimism about the future of the state, saying: “Ìpínlẹ̀ Ọ̀yọ́ yóò máa tesiwaju nínú àlàáfíà, ìdàgbàsókè àti ààbò,” meaning that Oyo State will continue to thrive in peace, development, and security.
The Amotekun Corps urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely information and cooperating with law enforcement authorities.
It added that collective vigilance and unity would remain vital in sustaining the gains recorded over the years and in building a safer and more prosperous Oyo State for future generations.
