ICPC, Engineers commend FCA Ibadan over transparent bidding process

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) have commended the Federal College of Agriculture (FCA), Ibadan, for conducting a transparent and credible process during the opening of its 2025 Constituency Project Technical Bids.

The exercise drew key stakeholders, including management staff of the institution, bidders, and independent observers, in what was widely described as a well-coordinated procurement process.

Leading the College’s management team was the Provost, Professor Jonathan J. Atungwu, alongside the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. M. O. Adenekan; Deputy Provost (Academics), Dr. Victoria E. Okpeze; Head of Bursary, Comrade Adeyemi A. Jaguno; College Librarian, Dr. Mojisola Y. Osunkoya; Director of Audit, Mr. Olakunle F. Karunwi; Director of Works and Maintenance, Engr. Adebisi Joseph; Director of ICT, Engr. John A. Ijadunola; and the College Legal Adviser, Barr. Samuel Elum.

In his opening remarks, Atungwu reiterated the institution’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in all procurement activities. He welcomed bidders’ representatives and observers, assuring them of a fair and open exercise.

The process commenced with the introduction of bidders and observers by the Head of Procurement, Mr. Oladapo Sonibare, after which representatives of the ICPC and a bidding firm were invited to inspect the tender box to confirm it was securely locked before it was officially opened.

Following the opening, bids were sorted into two categories, empowerment of youth, women, and retirees, and the supply of instructional materials for selected schools in Katsina State, each attracting five bidders.

The bid opening exercise was conducted by the procurement team led by Sonibare, with support from Engr. Kayode Obelawo, under the supervision of the Provost.

At the end of the process, bidders were invited to raise objections or observations, but unanimously affirmed that the exercise was transparent, credible, and free of irregularities.

Present  at the event, included ICPC representative Mr. Adegboyega Akinleye and Engr. Ife Adedeji of the NSE, Oluyole Branch, commended the College for upholding integrity and due process throughout the exercise.

The session concluded with the signing of the bid register and relevant documentation, validated by the Head of Procurement and confirmed by the Provost.

In his closing remarks, Atungwu appreciated the bidders, observers, and members of staff for their cooperation and professionalism, noting that their contributions ensured the success of the exercise.
