The Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa Kingdom in Ondo State, Oba Michael Obatuga Adetoye Ogunbemi I, has paid glowing tribute to the late community leader and retired army officer, Christopher Olatubara Ikutiminu, describing his death as a profound loss to the community.
In a statement issued from his palace on Kunehin Street, Okitipupa, the monarch said news of Ikutiminu’s passing came as a shock but noted that he was comforted by the deceased’s exemplary and fulfilled life.
Oba Ogunbemi described the late chief as a legendary leader who devoted his life to selfless service, adding that Ikutiminu remained committed to the development of his people until his final days.
“He lived a life defined by love, care, compassion, and philanthropy,” the monarch said, noting that the deceased’s contributions to community development and humanitarian causes would remain indelible.
The royal father also highlighted Ikutiminu’s distinguished military career, stating that he served Nigeria gallantly as a senior army officer before retiring to continue his service to society.
According to him, the late chief was a devout Christian who was actively involved in both the Anglican Church and the Redeemed Christian Church of God, where he demonstrated unwavering faith and commitment.
Oba Ogunbemi further described Ikutiminu as a kind-hearted and generous leader who extended support to the needy and contributed significantly to the wellbeing of many within and beyond his community.
On a personal note, the monarch said he was proud to have the late chief as his father-in-law, adding that his passing would be deeply felt by the royal family and the people of Idepe-Okitipupa Kingdom.
“As we mourn his passing, we take solace in the belief that he has gone to rest with his Creator in eternity,” he said.
The monarch prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family and strength for all those affected by the loss, describing Ikutiminu’s death as a huge and irreplaceable loss.
The late Ikutiminu has continued to receive tributes from across Ondo State, with many acknowledging his legacy of service, leadership, and philanthropy.
