Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has publicly thrown his support behind President Bola Tinubu, stating that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) cannot produce a leader who could outperform the current administration.

Speaking after a visit to the State House, Wadada challenged the members of the ADC to present a credible and concrete alternative to Tinubu’s policies rather than engaging in what he described as “baseless criticisms.” He questioned the capability of any individual within the ADC to do a better job than Tinubu, emphasizing that he has yet to see a viable alternative.

Wadada stated, “ADC is made up of Nigerians that we have respect for, but look at them, look at each and every one of them — who stands to do anything better than what Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is doing? Tell me, I haven’t seen any.”

The senator further asserted that the political space is already occupied by President Tinubu, and any discussions about leadership beyond 2027 would likely be after 2031. He argued that the president has brought “unprecedented changes” to the country and that electorates are now well-informed and looking for tangible economic plans.

In a significant political move, Wadada also hinted at his intention to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He explained that his move from the APC to the SDP was “circumstantial” and not because the APC had done anything wrong to him. He clarified that he had a long history with the APC, even before its official formation, having been a national officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and being part of the “ingredients” that cooked up the APC.

“I could even say that I am APC, though I have not officially moved, but I am APC — and not because SDP has offended me,” he said, attributing his potential return to the “dynamism of life.”
