A wave of prayers, celebration, and political solidarity swept through Ifo Local Government of Ogun State as Prince Mathew Adeyinka Taiwo-Ajegbemi, popularly known as MATA YAYI, led a large, interfaith prayer gathering to honor Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) on his birthday and galvanise support for his 2027 governorship bid.

Held at the Arcade Hall in Oluwo, Ifo, the special event brought together Christian and Muslim clerics, traditional rulers, All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders, community leaders, and members of the MATA YAYI Support Group, in what many described as a spiritually-charged and politically significant moment in Ogun’s journey toward the next gubernatorial election.

In his address, Prince Taiwo, a grassroots mobiliser and unwavering ally of Senator Adeola, described the occasion as “a dual celebration of life and vision.”

“Today, we thank God not just for the life of our leader and principal, but for the extraordinary path of service he has walked,” MATA said. “Senator YAYI is not just a public servant; he is a visionary whose heart beats for the progress of Ogun State. As 2027 approaches, we believe it is divine timing for him to take the mantle of leadership as governor.”

The event’s highlight was the joint interfaith prayer session, where Muslim and Christian leaders took turns to offer powerful prayers for wisdom, protection, and divine favor for Senator YAYI. The clerics declared that YAYI’s ambition to govern Ogun State was more than political—it was a calling and a mission to transform the state through purposeful leadership.

Many congregants at the gathering expressed unwavering support for YAYI’s candidacy, affirming their readiness to stand by him in the months leading to the 2027 elections.

“This is not just about politics; it is about destiny,” one of the Christian clerics said. “We see in Senator YAYI a vessel for development, peace, and prosperity in Ogun State.”

Described by observers as the first prayer event of such magnitude in Ifo for any political figure, the gathering signals a growing grassroots movement around Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition. Prince MATA, the convener, emphasized the apolitical yet purposeful nature of the prayer rally.

“We are not campaigning,” he said. “We are committing the journey ahead into God’s hands. We believe leadership comes from God, and we are confident that the prayers made here today will chart a path for Senator YAYI’s emergence as governor come 2027.”

The gathering, which drew hundreds of residents and supporters, ended with chants of solidarity and goodwill messages for the celebrant, who is widely seen as one of the most politically experienced and resourceful figures in Ogun State politics today.

As the 2027 elections gradually inch closer, Friday’s prayer session adds momentum to Senator YAYI’s growing popularity across the state. With key grassroots influencers like MATA YAYI steering early mobilisation efforts, the senator’s ambition continues to gain spiritual, emotional, and political traction.

Senator Solomon Adeola (YAYI), currently representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has long been associated with infrastructural development, legislative excellence, and empowerment initiatives—qualities his supporters believe will serve Ogun State well if he is elected governor.
