The Oyo State Police Command has announced major breakthroughs in its ongoing intelligence-driven operations aimed at combating crime across the state, including the arrest of a driver transporting illegal firearms and the discovery of human flesh in a public transport vehicle.
In a press statement issued by CSP Osifeso Adewale, the Police Public Relations Officer, the Command highlighted the growing success of its intensified stop-and-search operations conducted on major highways and critical intersections.
On the night of Thursday, September 18, 2025, around 9:11 PM, officers from the Federal Highway Patrol stopped a Toyota bus (registration number AFZ 933 XA) at the Toll Gate on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. A search of the vehicle led to the shocking discovery of two locally-made single-barrel firearms, two brand new short stainless-steel machetes, and 20 live cartridges.
The driver, who could not produce a valid driver’s license or any vehicle documentation, was immediately arrested and is currently in police custody along with the impounded bus.
In a separate operation on Wednesday, September 17, the police recovered a white Toyota Camry (registration number LSD 957 JX) suspected to be stolen, along the Ogbomoso-Iseyin Road. Even more disturbing was the discovery of suspected human flesh found in the hand luggage of a passenger inside a white commercial bus (registration number XA 551 IRG).
“These back-to-back interceptions underscore the effectiveness of our proactive, intelligence-led strategy to disrupt criminal activities across the state,” said Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna.
The Commissioner further urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity without hesitation, stressing that community cooperation remains critical to maintaining peace and safety in the state.
