Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, has hailed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for what he described as a “flawless and exemplary” conduct of its Local Government Congresses across all 33 local government areas of the state.

Speaking after the successful conclusion of the congresses, Lawal said the peaceful and transparent exercise was a “powerful statement of unity, discipline, and political maturity,” and a clear demonstration that the PDP remains Nigeria’s most organized and credible political force.

“The peaceful and transparent conduct of our LG congresses is more than a procedural success. It is a declaration that the PDP is united, focused, and fully prepared to reclaim its place as the party of responsible governance in Nigeria,” Lawal said.

He praised party leaders, delegates, and members for their discipline and consensus-building approach, describing the congress as “a blueprint for political organization that the rest of the country should emulate.”

Lawal commended the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, under whose watch he said the party had grown into a model of internal democracy and grassroots mobilization. He described the Oyo PDP as a “beacon of political stability” and said the just-concluded congresses marked a strategic milestone on the road to the 2027 general elections.

The acting governor also acknowledged the professionalism of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), and security agencies whose roles, he said, ensured a “conflict-free, credible, and orderly exercise.”

Looking ahead, Lawal charged the newly elected local government executives to “hit the ground running”, noting that their emergence was both a vote of confidence and a call to action.

“Your mandate is not just administrative, it is strategic. You must strengthen our base, connect with the people, and build on this momentum as we move toward 2027,” he said.

He urged PDP leaders and stakeholders across the state to maintain unity, promote inclusivity, and uphold accountability, describing these values as “non-negotiable” for any party serious about leading Nigeria into a brighter future.
