An African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial hopeful in Oyo State, Barrister Niyi Aborisade (BANA), on Wednesday extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful across the state as the holy month of Ramadan begins.
In a goodwill message released to mark the commencement of the sacred month, Aborisade congratulated Muslims in Oyo State and beyond for witnessing another Ramadan, describing the period as one of deep spiritual reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to faith.
Addressing the Muslim community, the ADC governorship aspirant urged adherents of Islam to use the holy month to intensify prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Oyo State and Nigeria at large. He noted that Ramadan represents a unique opportunity for spiritual rejuvenation, self-discipline, and compassion towards one another, especially the less privileged in society.
“As the holy month of Ramadan begins, may Allah grant you peace, mercy, forgiveness, and abundant blessings,” Aborisade stated in his message. He prayed that the fasting, supplications, and acts of charity observed during the period would be accepted and richly rewarded.
The legal practitioner and politician emphasized the importance of tolerance, harmony, and collective responsibility during and beyond the fasting season. According to him, Ramadan serves as a reminder of the values of patience, humility, and generosity—virtues that are essential for building a stronger and more inclusive society.
Aborisade further wished Muslim families across Oyo State a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan, encouraging them to remain steadfast in faith and hopeful for a brighter future. He expressed confidence that the prayers offered during the holy month would contribute to greater peace and development in the state.
The ADC gubernatorial hopeful also reaffirmed his commitment to policies and leadership ideals that promote fairness, justice, and equal opportunities for all residents of Oyo State, irrespective of religious or ethnic background.
Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a month-long period of fasting from dawn to sunset, accompanied by increased devotion, charity, and communal solidarity. It is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and holds profound spiritual significance for adherents.
