The event drew dignitaries including former Ekiti State governor, Segun Oni; former Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Yemi Farounbi; and other eminent personalities.

In his tribute, former Minister of Power, Dr. Olu Agunloye, described Adeniran as an “astute scholar whose impact cannot be overstated,” noting that their friendship has spanned over five decades.

“I derive a lot of inspiration from him. He is one of the most productive people I have ever met,” Agunloye said, recalling how they worked closely with Bola Ige, Wole Soyinka, Femi Johnson, Bola Akinyemi and others. “He is worthy of emulation.”

Banke Akinjola, one of the celebrant’s daughters, praised her father’s selfless nature and discipline. “He is a philanthropist who always opens his door to those in need. He is a disciplinarian who does not tolerate laziness, yet his heart is full of love. I am grateful to God for sparing his life to reach this milestone.”

Also speaking, Mogaji Kayode Ogunsola urged Nigerian youths to actively engage in politics and governance, stressing that they hold the future of the country.

“With Nigeria projected to hit 400 million people by 2050, and youths already making up 75 per cent of the population, they cannot afford to sit on the sidelines,” he said. “The likes of Obasanjo, Gowon and Awolowo made their mark in their youth; today’s youths must rise to the challenge.”

In an emotional response, Prof. Adeniran expressed gratitude to God for preserving his life.

“It is only by His grace that I am here today. Despite all odds, God has granted me the gift of a meaningful life and the privilege of celebrating 80 years,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to return to God and appreciate the blessings the nation has received. “Nigeria is richly endowed with human and material resources. We must show our gratitude to God through our commitment to Him and to society. The younger generation must wake up, it is their future that is at stake. By doing the right thing and walking the path of honour, they will not only secure their future but also transform Nigeria into a better society.”

The celebration was filled with goodwill messages, joy and prayers, as guests honoured the life and legacy of one of Nigeria’s foremost scholars, diplomats and statesmen.
