The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Senator) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja (Arusa I), on Thurday  assured residents that there will be no religious crisis in Ibadanland, emphasizing that peaceful coexistence remains a defining feature of the ancient city.
Oba Ladoja gave the assurance when a delegation from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan.
The monarch, who described Ibadan as a city of religious harmony, stated that every family in Ibadan comprises adherents of different faiths, which has naturally fostered tolerance and unity among its people.
“There cannot be a religious crisis in Ibadanland, as there is no family compound without adherents of Christianity, Islam, and African Traditional Religion,” the Olubadan affirmed.
He added that traditional rulers, as fathers of all, must ensure that they promote peace and understanding among followers of different religions.
“Any traditional ruler, including the Olubadan, is the father of all religions. Such a ruler should always preach harmony and religious tolerance among all faithful,” he said.
Oba Ladoja appreciated the RCCG leadership for their visit and urged them to continue praying for the peace and progress of Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
Delivering a message on behalf of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the National Coordinator of the RCCG Royal Fathers’ Fellowship and member of the church’s Board of Trustees, Pastor Sola Adeyeye, congratulated Oba Ladoja on his ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Pastor Adeboye, through his representative, pledged the church’s continuous spiritual support for the monarch’s reign, praying for enduring peace, harmony, and prosperity throughout Ibadanland.
“We congratulate His Imperial Majesty on his enthronement and assure him of our spiritual support for peace and success during his reign,” Pastor Adeyeye conveyed on behalf of Pastor Adeboye.
The delegation also offered special prayers for long life and divine wisdom for the Olubadan, members of the Olubadan-in-Council, and for peace in Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria.
Among the high-ranking chiefs present at the event were Oba (Barr.) Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola, the Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba (Sir) Kolawole Adegbola, the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba John Olubunmi Isioye, the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland; Oba Biodun Kola-Daisi, the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland-designate; Oba Salawudeen Amidu Ajibade, the Asipa Olubadan-designate; Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland; and Oba Muritala Adebayo Akande, the Ekerin Olubadan-designate.
