About 130 students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, are currently participating in a hot contest of ideas aimed at making the problem of graduate unemployment  a thing of the past in Nigeria.

The programme, which is holding at the Nithub of the university, is being hosted by the Office of Career Development Services of the university in collaboration with the Innovation Center for Leadership and Entrepreneurial Development (ICLED) Business School, Lekki, Lagos.

Themed: “Solving the Graduate Unemployment Crisis in Nigeria: The Way Forward”,  the event is showcasing  skills acquired by the final-year students through ICLED’s training in communication, leadership, career planning, and employability readiness.

The students were grouped into 10 teams with each engaging  in a debate competition to propose innovative solutions to Nigeria’s unemployment challenge, with judges from industry and academia assessing their performance.

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC), Development Services, of the university,Prof. Afolabi Lesi said the students have ideas which the policymakers and leaders must be taken  cognisance of in addressing the problem of unemployment in Nigeria
