.. Labour Unions call VC a trusted leader
As part of the promises of the Vice-Chancellor of University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe when she assumed office in July, 2025 to prioritize the welfare of staff, the Professor of Paediatrics and Child Health has commenced the payment of the 2024 Minimum Wage and its Consequential Adjustment to both academic and non-academic staff. It was effected with October 2025 salary.
This development is a testament to the commitment of the Vice-Chancellor to ensure that staff are well motivated to give their best to the upliftment of UNIMED.
Reacting to the payment of the New Minimum Wage, Comrade O. G. Abayomi, the Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and Joint Action Committee (JAC), UNIMED Branch thanked the VC for fulfilling her promise. According to him, “On behalf of JAC congress and executives, I sincerely appreciate our amiable Vice-Chancellor for the fulfillment of her promise”. He added that “Two promises were made by her within two months of her reign, and both were soundly fulfilled”.
The Chairman, NASU, UNIMED, Comrade Adebayo Moses, appreciated the Management for the gesture and described the VC “as a committed leader per excellence”.
Comrade Yinka Adelakun, NAAT UNIMED Chairman in his reaction, said, “This gesture reflects true leadership and respect for the workforce. It will foster motivation, trust, and institutional harmony”.
The consensus among staff is that the Vice-Chancellor is a trusted leader who is committed to the welfare of staff.
