The new intake surpasses the nine professionals inducted during the maiden edition in 2024, a development that university officials say reflects the increasing demand and relevance of environmental health expertise in Nigeria.

Delivering the induction lecture titled “Environmental Health in the 21st Century: Emerging Trends and Paradigm Shifts,” Prof. Solomon Adewoye of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, stressed that the profession has become more critical than ever due to intensifying global environmental issues.

He highlighted challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanisation, population growth and harmful pollutants, including microplastics, endocrine disruptors and persistent organic compounds, warning that modern health crises are inseparable from environmental factors.

“This induction marks not just the completion of your academic journey, but the beginning of countless possibilities,” Adewoye said. “Your certificate is a mandate to make a difference, a call to service.”

Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuiyigbe, Professor Abdulazeez Abubakar urged the inductees to uphold integrity and excellence as ambassadors of the institution. He encouraged them to face the real-world tests ahead with confidence and resilience.

The Dean, School of Public Health, Prof. Olorunfemi Amoran, commended the graduates for their hard work and perseverance, noting that the successful ceremony reflects the growing strength of the programme and strong institutional support.
