The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, commemorated International Women’s Day at its Odosida Campus, embracing the theme “Give to Gain.”
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, noted that “true progress is achieved when we invest in women’s growth, health, and leadership, as giving creates lasting societal gains.”
Keynote Speaker, Professor Folasade Olajuyigbe of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), emphasized that “empowering women through knowledge and opportunities is a catalyst for sustainable development.”
The Director, Centre for Gender and Health Equity, UNIMED,Professor Augustinah Duyilemi, added that “gender equity thrives when individuals and institutions commit to intentional support and inclusion.”
The event featured discussions advocating stronger commitments to women’s advancement across health, education, and leadership sectors.
The highlight of the event was the recognition of the invaluable contributions of some women and men to the growth of the society in diverse spheres of life.
