Agbaje, in a Christmas message made available to journalists in Ibadan, called on citizens to remain steadfast in faith and hopeful about the future of the country, despite prevailing socio-economic and security challenges.
Describing Christmas as a season of deep reflection, Agbaje said the celebration goes beyond festivities, reminding Nigerians of the enduring virtues of humility, compassion, sacrifice and selfless love as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
“Christmas is a season that reminds us of love, peace and hope. It calls us to reflect on the virtues of humility, compassion and sacrifice as demonstrated by Jesus Christ. These values remain essential as we strive collectively for a more just, united and stable nation,” he said.
The APC chieftain stressed that Nigeria’s diversity should be a source of strength rather than division, noting that unity and shared responsibility across religious and cultural lines are necessary for sustainable development.
According to him, the challenges facing the nation require not only faith and prayers but also patience, resilience and collective effort from leaders and citizens alike.
“I encourage all Nigerians to keep their trust in God and remain optimistic about the future. Together, through unity and goodwill, we can strengthen peace within our communities and build a better country for all,” Agbaje added.
He urged Nigerians to use the Yuletide period as a moment of prayer and sober reflection for national progress, calling on leaders at all levels to recommit themselves to service, accountability and people-centred governance.
Agbaje also charged residents of Oyo State to embrace the true spirit of Christmas by showing kindness, tolerance and generosity, particularly towards the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.
“As we celebrate, we should remember those who are in need. This season presents an opportunity to extend care, share resources and ensure that the joy of Christmas is felt by as many people as possible,” he said.
The governorship hopeful noted that small acts of kindness at the community level could go a long way in strengthening social bonds and promoting peaceful coexistence across the state.
He prayed for peaceful, safe and joyous celebrations across Oyo State and the nation at large, urging security agencies, community leaders and residents to work together to ensure a hitch-free festive period.
Agbaje reiterated his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the growth, stability and development of Oyo State and Nigeria, expressing confidence that with collective resolve and the right values, the country would overcome its challenges and move towards a more prosperous future.
