PreSpend, a digital money management platform, has introduced a wallet-based system designed to help users manage their finances, control spending and protect money set aside for essential expenses.
The platform allows users to divide their funds into dedicated wallets for different spending categories, including food, transportation, bills and personal expenses, helping them track how much they can safely spend.
According to the PreSpend team, the system is designed to address the limitations of conventional banking applications, which typically display an account balance without clearly distinguishing between money available for discretionary spending and funds reserved for essential payments.
With the wallet-based approach, users can allocate money to specific purposes when funds arrive, reducing the need for manual calculations and helping them avoid spending money earmarked for rent, bills and other obligations.
The platform also aims to encourage better financial habits by giving users a clearer picture of their available spending money and helping them manage impulse purchases.
“Payday shouldn’t feel like the start of a countdown to broke,” the PreSpend team said in a message announcing the platform’s money management approach.
The company explained that its service is designed to make budgeting easier by allowing users to organise their finances according to their individual needs and spending priorities.
On security, PreSpend said it is backed by SafeHaven Microfinance Bank, which it described as licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It also stated that deposits are insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
The company encouraged users to update their mobile application and set up their first wallet to begin organising their finances.
The introduction comes amid growing interest in digital financial tools that help consumers budget, monitor expenditure and develop more disciplined spending habits.
