The committee was inaugurated on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the university’s Senate Chamber by Ojebode, who is also the institution’s president.
Adelakun is listed among the committee members in a press release announcing the inauguration.
The committee is chaired by Prof. Abdulrahman Adeniran Tella, with Dr. Aderemi Adekunle as co-chairman. Dr Oluwatoyin Kolawole will serve as secretary.

The committee is expected to develop a comprehensive programme and strategic plan for the dual celebrations, propose appropriate activities, prepare a realistic budget and identify potential funding sources and sponsors.
Its responsibilities also include coordinating publicity, media relations, branding and communications; recommending distinguished personalities and stakeholders for recognition; and overseeing anniversary publications, souvenirs, documentaries and other commemorative materials.
Speaking at the inauguration, Ojebode described the celebrations as an opportunity to reflect on the university’s journey, acknowledge the contributions of its stakeholders and strengthen its commitment to future development.
He said the events should go beyond speeches and ceremonial activities to provide a platform for reflection, renewal, repositioning and renewed commitment to the institution’s vision.
The founder also urged the committee to celebrate the university’s achievements, honour its pioneers and benefactors, recognise outstanding staff and alumni, showcase students’ accomplishments and strengthen relationships with local and international partners.
He also called for activities that would support fundraising and document the institution’s history for future generations.
Ojebode said the university’s next phase of development should focus on strengthening academic excellence, research and innovation, digital transformation, partnerships, entrepreneurship, employability and infrastructure.
The anniversary theme, unveiled at the inauguration, is “Ten Years of Excellence: Building the Future and Impacting Generations.”
