The Vice-Chancellor of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Prof. Olanrewaju Olaniyan, has felicitated Muslim faithful and members of the university community on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Olaniyan described Eid-el-Kabir as a festival that symbolises sacrifice, love, obedience and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
In a statement issued by the institution’s Media and Public Relations Officer, ’Wale Adeoye, the Vice-Chancellor wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration filled with Allah’s blessings, mercy and benevolence.
According to the renowned economist, the celebration reflects God’s special love for mankind as demonstrated in the replacement of Prophet Ibrahim’s son, Ishmail, with a ram for sacrifice.
“Eid-el-Kabir festival is highly symbolic to Muslim faithful. It shows the special love of Almighty Allah to mankind as reflected in the replacement of Ishmail, Prophet Ibrahim’s son, with a ram for sacrifice. There is no less a way of giving us love and peace than this and we must always give thanks to God Almighty,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor urged Muslims to use the period to offer prayers against the worsening insecurity challenges facing the country and seek divine intervention for lasting peace and stability in Nigeria.
He also appealed to members of the university community to continue supporting his administration in its efforts to reposition the institution for greater academic excellence and national relevance.
“I urge our Islamic faithful to, in the spirit of the Eid-el-Kabir festival, join and pray for our administration as we jointly put the university on the right track. We cannot do it alone but with the support of the entire workforce of the university,” he stated.
“With our collective support, I am sure our institution shall set a good pace among other universities in the country. May Almighty Allah accept our celebrations as an act of ibadah during the Eid-el-Kabir.”
Olaniyan further called on members of the university community to rededicate themselves to the growth and progress of the institution, while also praying for peace and development in Oyo State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
