President Bola Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, amid allegations targeting the minister.
Nnaji, appointed by the President in August 2023, submitted his resignation today, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve Nigeria.
According to a statement signed by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in his resignation letter, Nnaji revealed that he had been subjected to blackmail by political opponents, which influenced his decision to step down.
President Tinubu acknowledged Nnaji’s contributions during his tenure and extended his best wishes for success in Nnaji’s future endeavours.

Nnaji has taken the path of honour by resigning his position as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He should go ahead and defend himself on how he got the NYSC and Bachelor of Science degree Certificate he presented to the Senate during his screening exercise. If the certificates were forged then a criminal case of forgery hangs on his neck. This is call on our Senator to take screening of appointees more serious.
