Christopher Kolade is dead

The Stsinoiz International Club, Nigeria — a Christian-based non-governmental organization — joins the nation and the global community in mourning the passing of our Grand Patron, Chief (Dr.) Christopher Olusola Kolade, CON. A distinguished diplomat, statesman, consummate professional, and moral beacon, Dr. Kolade’s life was an enduring testament to integrity, excellence, principled leadership, and selfless service to humanity.

Throughout his remarkable life, Dr. Kolade stood as a moral compass and a voice of conscience in public life, corporate governance, and civic engagement. His conduct embodied what it means to serve both God and humanity with humility, purpose, and honor.

Since 2017, Chief Kolade served as the Grand Patron of Stsinoiz International Club, bringing to our mission his characteristic wisdom, grace, and moral authority. His acceptance of that role was not only a rare privilege but also an affirmation of his faith in our core values — ethical citizenship, integrity, and national renewal. Our guiding mantra, “Integrity Matters,” deeply resonated with him.

To us, Dr. Kolade was more than a Grand Patron; he was a mentor, motivator, and moral guardian. His counsel and reflections at our gatherings — particularly during the 2024 webinar commemorating the 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic — left a lasting impact. On that occasion, he urged Nigerians to “take collective action to avert impending moral and civic disasters,” in the nation,  a call that continues to inspire our commitment to being agents of positive change and catalysts for moral renewal in our communities.

A consummate broadcaster, Chief Kolade began his illustrious career in the media, rising to become Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC). In that capacity, he championed professionalism, credibility, and value-driven broadcasting, shaping Nigeria’s media landscape and promoting balance and responsibility in public communication.

Following his remarkably outstanding work in broadcasting, he transitioned into the corporate world, joining Cadbury Nigeria Plc, where he served with distinction as Chief Executive Officer and later Chairman. Under his leadership, the company became a model of integrity, productivity, and corporate responsibility. His leadership philosophy—rooted in transparency, accountability, and human development—earned him admiration and respect across the global corporate community.

Dr. Kolade also brought his integrity and wisdom to diplomacy, serving as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (2001–2007). During his tenure, he represented Nigeria with distinction, fostering bilateral relations, strengthening Nigeria’s international reputation, and engaging meaningfully with the Nigerian diaspora.

His passing leaves an immense void, but his influence endures. Chief Kolade’s exemplary life remains a model of leadership grounded in character, competence, and compassion. To those privileged to know and work with him, he was not only a teacher but a father figure — firm in principle, gentle in counsel, and unwavering in his conviction that goodness must remain the foundation of leadership.

His parting words to participants at the October 1, 2024 Webinar organized by our Club now carry deeper resonance as we mourn his passing. He reminded us that:

“By giving us the gift of life, God wants us to make those blessings count. He wants us to show that we have been blessed, and therefore He expects us to bless other people… Above all, (I urge you to) make your blessings count. One of your blessings is that you want to establish and sustain integrity in this environment. Let us carry on knowing that God is with us. He is not just our refuge, He’s our strength. Let us express that strength by making our blessings count.”

He finally urged Nigerians to take collective and positive action against moral decadence in  the society and to ensure that good governance is entrenched at all levels of leadership.

Within the Stsinoiz International Club, the legacy he leaves behind is indelible, transformational and trans-generational. His vision for a just, disciplined, equitable and value-driven society will continue to guide our engagements, inspire our programmes, and strengthen our collective resolve to uphold integrity and ethical excellence.

As we bid farewell to this towering figure, we take solace in the fact that his values live on — in us and in the countless lives he touched. Chief Kolade lived not for himself but for others, and through his example, we are reminded that integrity remains the truest measure of greatness.

May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant his family comfort and strength in this season of profound loss.

Your legacy will forever guide the conscience of the Stsinoiz International Club.

Adieu, our Grand Patron.
Adieu, our Mentor.
Adieu, our Moral Compass.
