The colourful ceremony, held in the school’s main hall, drew dignitaries from the education sector, alumni, parents, and friends of the institution, all united in celebrating a woman whose life’s work has touched countless students and educators across Oyo State. A representative of TESCOM, in a glowing tribute, described her as “a distinguished educationist who has selflessly invested her time and intellect in nurturing generations of students and advancing the goals of public education in Oyo State.”
Speaking on behalf of Omituntun in the Diaspora, Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Aderibigbe lauded Dr. Savage’s enduring legacy of excellence, integrity, and compassion.
“OID is proud to celebrate one of our own.Dr. Savage’s career is a shining example of commitment, selflessness, and leadership that transcends borders,” she said.
Since joining the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission in 1990, Dr. Savage has served in several schools across the state, earning accolades for her disciplined leadership and innovative approach to teaching. Her career has been decorated with numerous awards, including the Best Teacher Award from the Board of Governors, Eleyele Secondary School, Ibadan (1994); Best Article on Leadership from Exclusive Motivation (2016); and a Letter of Commendation from the Oyo State Commissioner for Education (2022). She was also recognised in the prestigious Queen’s International Essay Competition.
Beyond her administrative accomplishments, Dr. Savage is a prolific writer and scholar, having authored several inspirational books and contributed to academic journals both locally and internationally.
In her farewell speech, a visibly moved Dr. Savage expressed heartfelt gratitude to the management, staff, and students of St. Anne’s Schools for their unwavering support and cooperation during her tenure.
“As I always tell you, my students, read diligently, work hard, and pray fervently.I have played my part, and I am confident that I am leaving you in capable hands. I sincerely appreciate your love, commitment, and prayers,” she said.
The ceremony was marked by songs, cultural performances, emotional tributes, and the presentation of gifts—all testaments to the enduring respect and affection Dr. Savage has earned over the years.
