It was a day of political undertones, cultural colour, and personal celebration as Barrister Niyi Aborisade, Mogaji of Ajagba Compound, Oke-Ofa Babasale, marked his 58th birthday in grand style at his Bodija country home in Ibadan on Saturday, October 18.
Though the celebrant’s birthday falls on October 15, the celebration was moved to accommodate friends and associates travelling from abroad, particularly the United Kingdom and the United States.
The well-attended event attracted a mix of dignitaries, cultural icons, political figures, and community leaders. Among them were Nigeria’s former Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr. Yemi Farounbi; acclaimed arts and culture promoter, Prince Tunde Odunlade; Mr. Wasiu Abiola; and former Oyo PDP Chairman, Hon. Yinka Taiwo.
In his remarks , Aborisade, a 2027 governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), expressed gratitude to guests for their overwhelming show of love.
“Today is not just a birthday; it is a reaffirmation of purpose and commitment. I deeply appreciate everyone who came out to celebrate with me,” he said.
The legal practitioner used the platform to commend the PDP for a successful state congress and urged the newly elected executives to foster unity and internal democracy.
Aborisade also charged Nigerians to remain committed to the democratic process by registering for and collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
When asked questions about his political ambition, he gave a firm response: “Yes, I am ready to serve the people of Oyo State if given the opportunity. My political vision is anchored on delivering the dividends of democracy the Awolowo way, based on integrity, selfless service, and people-oriented policies.”
In a goodwill message, Ambassador Farounbi described the celebrant as a man of vision and integrity.
“Barrister Aborisade is a good man with great intentions for the people. I pray his aspirations come to reality in 2027,” he said.
