It is yet another auspicious moment to roll out the drums and unfurl the red carpet in celebration of  one of my revered mentors—Professor Olumuyiwa Benjamin Popoola.

The brand Professor Olumuyiwa Benjamin Popoola means different  things to different people.

To some, this first-class graduate of Mass Communication is an academic wizard, a man whose grasp of knowledge leaves students and colleagues alike in awe. To others, the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) is an administrative titan—efficient, strategic, and visionary. Yet, there are those who know him best on the podium: a magnetic orator, whose eloquence, poise, and passion leave audiences captivated and spellbound.

To me, however, Prof. Popoola is all of these—and more. He is a remarkable blend of intellect, integrity, impact, and humanity. A towering academic giant. A scholar who radiates brilliance, enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication to knowledge. A media icon whose meteoric rise in the academic and professional space has left many mouths agape.

His contributions to scholarship and university administration have not only advanced the academic community but have also nurtured countless students and colleagues along the way. His life’s work is a testament to the power of excellence, humility, and purpose.

So, today, I invite you to join me in celebrating a rare gem—a mentor, a humanist, and a benefactor.
Prof. Olumuyiwa Benjamin Popoola, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, is truly a first-class scholar and a world-class intellectual.
