FCA Ibadan, Kainiu Investment strengthen partnership on research, tech transfer

The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), hosted the Management team of Kainiu Investment Nigeria Limited in a follow-up visit aimed at strengthening the partnership initiative first introduced on November 4,2025.
The delegation, led by the Director of Kainiu Investment, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adeyemo, presented a documented proposal, outlining strategies to expand collaborations with FCAIB.
Discussions focused on long-term development plans, areas for applied research, student training, and technology transfer. The partnership is still under review and yet to be formally concluded, as both parties continue to explore mutually beneficial arrangements.
Members of the Kainiu team present were Mr. Asinwe Ezekiel, Marketing Supervisor; Mr. Huawen, Head of Engineering; Mr. Segun Anjorin, Salesman; Miss Fetisayo Ajayi, Sales Personnel; Mrs. Tejumade Ayodele, Regional Sales Manager; and Mrs. Salami, Head of Structural Construction, who demonstrated the company’s commitment to building a strong working relationship with the College.
FCAIB top Management in attendance were the Deputy Provost Administration, Dr. M. O Adenekan; Deputy Provost Academics, Dr. V. E. Okpeze; Registrar, Mr. A. S. Abass, ably represented Mrs. Olanike Popoola; Head of Bursary, Mrs. Theresa Adeoye; Head of Audit, Mr. Olakunle Karunwi; Head of Procurement, Engr. Dr. ‘Seun Akinyele; Head of Legal, Mr. S. N. Elum; Head of Maintenance, Engr. Adebisi and the Former Dean, School of Agricultural Management and Vocational Studies, Mr. Eyitayo Atilade Oluade, reflecting the College’s dedication to actively engaging with strategic partners.
During the visit, Kainiu Investment confirmed its intention to make FCAIB the largest Kainiu production plant in West Africa, with the proposed site being the Bora site of the College. As part of the engagement, the Kainiu team and FCAIB management toured the Bora site to assess its suitability for the production and training facility. The planned centre is expected to drive large-scale production and simultaneously serve as a comprehensive training hub for FCAIB students, SIWES training Centre and external individuals seeking technical and entrepreneurial skills.
In his address, the Provost of FCAIB, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, highlighted that one of the key objectives of the partnership is to revive vocational and technical training in Nigeria’s educational system. He emphasized that the College seeks to train students beyond the traditional classroom setting but rather equips them with practical, industry-relevant skills that are essential for the agricultural sector.
He added that FCAIB is committed to building a sustainable system that the next generation can inherit, strengthen, and use to continue national development.
Following the Provost’s remarks, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adeyemo reaffirmed Kainiu Investment Nigeria Limited’s commitment to the collaboration. He announced that a customized Kainiu operation and maintenance manual would be made available to the College and its students to support practical training and research. He further emphasized the company’s readiness to work closely with FCAIB to ensure successful implementation of the partnership and effective deployment of the technology in agricultural communities.
The initiative is designed to promote hands-on learning, technology transfer, and youth empowerment in agricultural mechanization and agribusiness. It will also support farm logistics through the deployment of the Kainiu Tricycle Device (KTD), recognized for its durability, low fuel consumption, and suitability for transporting agricultural inputs and outputs.
The College Management assured that the documented proposal will undergo further review, with a view to establishing mutually beneficial areas of implementation.
