The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) has announced plans to hold its 2026 Annual Honours Awards, a flagship event designed to celebrate excellence in leadership, service, and professional achievement among its members.
The prestigious ceremony, according to the National Secretary of the association, Mr. Sefiu Ikudaisi, will take place on February 7, 2026, at Bovina View Hotels Limited, New Yidi Road, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Ikudaisi disclosed that a total of 28 distinguished members would be honoured at the event across three major award categories, reflecting their outstanding contributions to UNIFEMGA, Islam, and the wider society. The breakdown includes six recipients for the Presidential Awards, six for the Excellence Awards, and 16 for the Achievement Awards.
He said the 2026 ceremony, themed “Rebuilding National and International Confidence through Leadership and Followership Reforms,” is expected to spark meaningful conversations around ethical leadership, responsible citizenship, and the role of followership in national development.
Renowned Islamic scholar, Fadhilatul Ustadh Mukhtar Lukman Isale Koto, will deliver the keynote address at the event, while Professor Abdulganiyu F. Alabi will serve as Chairman of the ceremony.
Speaking on the significance of the awards, the National President of UNIFEMGA, Engr. Mohammed Buari, said the association was delighted to celebrate members who have distinguished themselves in their various fields and have remained committed to the ideals and growth of the association.
According to Buari, the Presidential Awards are designed to recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Islam, society, and the advancement of UNIFEMGA. The Excellence Awards will honour members who have attained the professorial cadre or demonstrated exceptional service and leadership, while the Achievement Awards will celebrate individuals who have earned doctorate degrees or recorded remarkable accomplishments in their professional and service-oriented pursuits.
He noted that the awards ceremony reflects UNIFEMGA’s long-standing commitment to promoting excellence, integrity, and service among its members, while also inspiring younger graduates to pursue leadership grounded in knowledge, character, and social responsibility.
The UNIFEMGA President added that beyond celebrating personal achievements, the event serves as a platform for strengthening unity among members and reinforcing the association’s role in national and global discourse on leadership and development.
UNIFEMGA is the umbrella body for Muslim graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with chapters across Nigeria and in the diaspora. The association is known for its contributions to educational development, community service, and faith-based leadership initiatives.
