The event, organised by the Brain Health Initiative Nigeria, took place at the Brain Center Hospital, located behind Holy Trinity Grammar School along Old Ife Road, attracting students, medical professionals, and members of the public keen on understanding neurological wellbeing.

A major feature of the programme was a lecture by Dr. Temitope Farombi, founder of the hospital, titled “Embodiment and Brain Health.”

Dr. Farombi explained that the brain is not isolated in function but interacts continuously with the body through movement, nutrition, sleep, and social engagement. He emphasised that daily habits, including proper hydration, physical activity, and mindfulness, have a direct impact on cognitive functions and emotional wellbeing.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Bola Otegbayo explored the role of music in stimulating brain function. He noted that exposure to music can enhance memory, concentration, and emotional regulation, while also supporting mental flexibility.

In another session, actor Ayo discussed the contribution of arts and creative activities to brain development, stating that activities such as acting, painting, and other forms of artistic expression stimulate imagination, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving skills.

The programme included interactive sessions featuring cognitive games, brain exercises, and “brain talks,” providing participants hands-on opportunities to engage in activities that challenge memory, attention, and critical thinking.

Speaking on the importance of lifestyle in brain health, the organisers stressed that consistent physical activity, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and social interaction are essential not only for preventing cognitive decline but also for promoting overall mental wellness.

Brain Fiesta 2026 forms part of annual global efforts during Brain Awareness Week to deepen public understanding of neurological and mental health issues and encourage proactive approaches to maintaining cognitive fitness.

Dr. Farombi added, “Caring for the body is a key step in protecting the brain. Through music, creativity, and healthy living, we can all take practical steps to support cognitive function and healthy aging.”
