Immediate past Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, will on Tuesday formally declare his ambition to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to an official invitation circulated ahead of the event, the declaration is scheduled to hold at the Main Bowl of the Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, by 10:00 a.m., and is expected to draw APC leaders, stakeholders, party faithful and supporters from across the state.

Adelabu, who was the APC governorship candidate in the 2019 election, said the public declaration marks the beginning of what he described as a renewed political journey to reposition Oyo State under progressive leadership.

The former minister recalled his earlier governorship bid, noting that he narrowly lost the contest under what he called “challenging political circumstances,” but insisted he is now better prepared for the race.

He said his return to the governorship contest is driven by “renewed strength, deeper experience and greater determination” to serve the people of Oyo State.

Adelabu expressed confidence that the APC would reclaim power in 2027, stressing that unity within the party and support from residents would be critical to victory.

He added that his aspiration is anchored on a vision for a more prosperous Oyo State built on “proven capacity, competence, passion and experience.”

The declaration rally is expected to feature top APC chieftains, political associates, traditional rulers, youth groups and supporters from within and outside the state.
