At its meeting held on May 20 and 21, 2026, the institution’s Appointments and Promotions Committee for Academic Staff approved the promotions across various faculties and departments.
Aminu, of the Department of Economics, was among the 22 Readers elevated to the rank of Professor in the latest promotion exercise approved by the premier university.
Also elevated is Dr. Babatunde Ojebuyi of the Department of Communication and Language Arts, who moved from Senior Lecturer to Professor.
The promotion list released by the institution covered various faculties and departments, including Medicine, Education, Arts, Social Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture, Pharmacy, and Library Studies.
Among those elevated from Reader to Professor are Dr. C. Okoye (Theatre Arts), Dr. Ibironke A. Ajayi (Chemistry), Dr. B. O. Ololajulo (Archaeology and Anthropology), Dr. S. A. Famuyiwa (Health Education), and Dr. K. A. Aramide (School Library and Media Technology).
Others include Dr. A. I. Atanda (Educational Management), Dr. Olajumoke O. Fayinminnu (Crop Protection and Environmental Biology), Dr. I. M. Ojedokun (Social Work), Dr. O. O. Ogunbode (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), and Dr. D. A. Adewole (Health Policy and Management).
Also promoted to professorial rank are Dr. P. O. Olaojo (Library, Archival and Information Studies), Dr. C. O. Omoregie (Adult Education), Dr. Olukemi O. Tongo (Paediatrics), Dr. Adenike T. Adeniji-Sofoluwe (Radiology), and Dr. O. A. Oyeranti (Economics).
Others are Dr. Serifat Akorede (Institute of Education), Dr. Tolulope O. Ajala (Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy), Dr. Adesola O. Opesade and Dr. Funmilola O. Omotayo (Data and Information Science), Dr. A. S. Akinrinde (Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry), and Dr. Y. R. Raji (Medicine).
The university also elevated 11 Senior Lecturers to the rank of Reader.
They include Dr. Oluwafunmiso A. (Agricultural Economics), Dr. S. A. Ademuyiwa (European Studies), Dr. Temitayo O. Ajayi (Pharmacology), Dr. Eniola O. Cadmus (Community Medicine), and Dr. T. O. Odeyale (Architecture).
Others are Dr. Oluwafunmilayo O. Adeleye (Animal Science), Dr. C. T. Akinsete (English), Dr. Folake O. Akintayo (Civil Engineering), Dr. Oluwaseun A. Otekunrin (Statistics), Dr. Nnenna W. Odozi (Chemistry), and Dr. Tolulope E. Kolajo (Wood Products Engineering).
In the library cadre, two Principal Librarians at the Kenneth Dike Library, Dr. Francisca N. Okoroma and Dr. Titilayo C. Ilesanmi, were promoted to the rank of Deputy Librarian.
