The Dean, Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation, University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Professor Wahab Owolawi, has been honoured with a Humanitarian Service Award by the Rotary Club of Akure Royals in recognition of his outstanding contributions to humanity and service to society.
The award was presented to Professor Owolawi on August 23, 2026, by the Rotary Club of Akure Royals, in recognition of his commitment to humanitarian service, professional excellence and contributions to the well-being of individuals and communities.
As Dean of the Faculty of Medical Rehabilitation, Professor Owolawi has continued to contribute to the advancement of rehabilitation medicine and the training of professionals equipped to improve the quality of life of people living with disabilities and other health challenges.
The recognition by the Rotary Club further underscores the value of his service beyond the university environment and reflects the broader impact of his professional and humanitarian engagements.
Reacting to the honour, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, congratulated Professor Owolawi, describing the award as a well-deserved recognition of his dedication to service and humanity.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, “This award is a fitting recognition of Professor Wahab Owolawi’s commitment to service, compassion and professional excellence. Professor Adejuyigbe added that the honour was not only a personal achievement for the Dean but also a source of pride to the University of Medical Sciences.
