The Iyalode of Akinyele and its environs, Chief (Mrs) Olajumoke Odususi, has congratulated the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his forthcoming coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, expressing hope that his reign would herald a new dawn for women in the traditional leadership structure.
In her goodwill message, Chief Odususi described Oba Ladoja as a man of enviable pedigree , a successful businessman, an accomplished politician, and a respected professional who attained the peak of his career as a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE).
“With this rich pedigree, I have no doubt that Ibadanland will benefit immensely from his experience, exposure and expertise, and therefore witness unprecedented development under Oba Ladoja,” she said.
While congratulating the Olubadan-designate, the Iyalode appealed for greater recognition of women in Ibadan’s traditional system, especially those in the outer cities and rural communities.
“As people wait with bated breath for the reign of Oba Ladoja, we, the women in the Ibadan traditional institution, are appealing to him to accord us our desired rights and privileges. Fervently do we hope that his ascension to the throne will usher in a new dawn for women title holders,” she stated.
Chief Odususi, who was the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2025 bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, urged the incoming monarch to prioritise the welfare of women traditional leaders, stressing that empowering them would strengthen grassroots leadership and community development across Ibadanland.
