President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Engr. Dr. Adebisi Osim, officially opened registration for the 2025 APWEN International Conference, Exhibition, and Annual General Meeting, set to take place from September 22–26 at the International Conference Centre in Ibadan. The announcement came during a press conference on [day], where Dr. Osim laid out a two-year record of growth, impact, and ambitious plans under her leadership.
Under the theme “Revitalising Nigeria’s Manufacturing Sector Through Innovative Engineering Solutions,” the conference aims to harness the power of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence to drive transformation across Nigeria’s manufacturing landscape.
While celebrating strong successes, such as over 1,000 girls and women directly empowered, 14 students awarded scholarships, and growing innovation submissions, Dr. Osim acknowledged ongoing challenges: limited access to advanced technical equipment, inconsistent mentorship after early STEM interventions, and the need for more strategic funding and sponsorship.
Dr. Osim appealed to various stakeholders to join APWEN’s mission of showcasing innovations, and highlight the transformative potential of women in engineering.
Among the confirmed speakers at the upcoming conference are Prof. Nasir Naeem AbdulSalam, Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company, Engr. Prof. Sadiq Zubair Abubakar, FNSE, FAEng, President of COREN, and Mrs. Olubukola Adubi, Managing Director of MicCom Cables & Wires Ltd
Attendees can expect panels, exhibitions, networking sessions, and showcases of engineering innovations aimed at revitalising manufacturing across Nigeria.
