Oyo State governorship aspirant and Baàmẹ̀kọ́ of Ibadanland, Oloye Saheed Oladele has said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is working hard to better the lot of Nigerians economically, while governors who are against local government autonomy are working against the President’s goal.
Oladele, who stated this at an event he hosted , where he met the 66 Oyo APC LG Secretaries and PROs at Bodija, Ibadan, particularly berated the present government in Oyo State for depriving local government areas of the growth and development they deserve by starving them of the statutory funds accrued to them from the federal allocation.
He also promised that he would ensure that all the 33 local governments develop at the same pace, allowing them to use their statutory funds for the betterment of the grassroots. According to Baàmẹ̀kọ́ Oladele, his chief agenda when voted in are local government autonomy and education.
Welcoming the secretaries and PROs, a frontline supporter of Baàmẹ̀kọ́ Oladele, Princess Funmilola Balogun thanked the APC LG excos for honouring his invitation. She said the purpose of the meeting was to familiarise with them and to talk to them on how to bring progress to Oyo State through the governorship aspiration of Oloye Oladele.
In his speech, Oladele appreciated the notable party men and women across the 33 local governments for responding to his invitation. He stressed the importance of ensuring that APC in Oyo State remains united, and that it’s paramount in his heart to bring unity and cohesion to the party. He told his guests that his intention to govern Oyo State is borne out of his conviction that the state deserves better in terms of all indices of governance.
Fielding questions from the party stakeholders, the Baàmẹ̀kọ́ of Ibadanland asserted that it is only the emergence of a credible and marketable governorship candidate from the APC that would ensure victory for the party in Oyo State at the polls in 2027.
