Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, and Gino, a brand from the stables of GBfoods, have secured a historic milestone as Guinness World Records (GWR) officially recognised the duo for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.

Guinness World Records made the announcement in a post shared on its official X account. It reads, “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

The achievement came after a grand culinary spectacle tagged the ‘Gino World Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci’, which took place on September 12, 2025, at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to Hilda’s team, the world’s largest pot of jollof rice was prepared with 1,583 kg of Gino pastes, a mix of Asun tomato paste, peppered chicken paste, and party jollof paste. That’s a staggering amount, equivalent to approximately 26,000 sachets based on the standard 60g size.

The event drew thousands of attendees and generated massive social media buzz. It  attracted celebrities, including Funke Akindele, Vekee James, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Pastor Idowu, and other celebrities, as well as Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State Governor, who all came out to support the chef’s latest record-breaking attempt.

Hilda Baci, who first rose to international prominence in 2023 when she set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, has now reinforced her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated chefs.
