Seven injured as trucks collide in Ogbomoso
At least seven individuals sustained serious injuries on Monday following a head-on collision involving two trucks in the Arinkinkin area of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, Oyo State. According to eyewitness accounts, the accident occurred along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Road and was reportedly caused by a reckless overtaking manoeuvre by one of the truck drivers. The resulting collision left the vehicles mangled and traffic temporarily halted.
An eyewitness, Olajide Babalola, recounted the incident: “There were eight people involved, all men. Seven of them suffered serious injuries and were immediately taken to Ebunoluwa Specialist Hospital, Sabo, Ogbomoso, for urgent medical care. Remarkably, one person escaped unhurt.”
Another witness, who was en route to Ilorin at the time, said: “We stopped our bus when the accident occurred and waited for officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who arrived promptly and helped transport the victims to the hospital.”
It was gathered that while some of the injured are responding to treatment, others remain in critical condition, with a few reported to be in comas.
As of press time, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs Rosemary Alo, had yet to respond to requests for official confirmation and further details regarding the accident.
