The head office of Fresh FM Nigeria, located at Challenge, Ibadan, was on Friday evening gutted by a devastating fire, leaving in its trail extensive damage to the popular radio station’s facilities.
According to a statement signed by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, the inferno, which broke out during active broadcast operations, ravaged the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, as well as the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and adjoining offices.
“We are sad to inform the general public that the Head Office of Fresh FM Nigeria, Challenge – Ibadan was razed by a devastating fire incident this evening, August 15, 2025.
“In the ensuing mishap, the studios of Fresh 105.9 and Blast 98.3 were badly burnt, with proximal offices like the newsroom, the transmitter/server room, and several equipment that got razed during active operations”,Akindele said.
Efforts by staff and residents to put out the fire with in-house extinguishers before the arrival of professional firefighters proved abortive due to the intensity of the blaze. Officials of the Oyo State Fire Service later joined community members and passersby in battling the fire. While the cause of the inferno is yet to be determined, Akindele disclosed that the full extent of the damage could not be immediately quantified.
“We heartily appreciate all good-spirited Nigerians who joined us in fighting the inferno — from residents around our studio complex who were the first responders to passersby and the officials of the Oyo Fire Service. We deeply value everyone’s assistance during the emergency,” the statement read.
