His remarkable achievement was celebrated in a vibrant convocation ceremony at the Adeline Hall, where he was among 198 graduands conferred with doctoral degrees.

The hall was filled with excitement and jubilation as Adeloye’s name was announced, prompting thunderous applause from colleagues, family, friends, and well-wishers. The moment marked the culmination of a long, disciplined, and highly commendable academic journey, demonstrating the power of perseverance and dedication.

Adeloye’s achievement comes at a time when Nigeria’s media and academic sectors are in need of seasoned professionals who can combine practical experience with scholarly insight.

As a veteran journalist, Adeloye’s career spans over two decades, beginning with The Monitor Newspaper in Ibadan. He later joined The Herald Newspaper in Ilorin, moved to Nigerian Pilot Newspaper, and is currently a senior journalist with Aljazirah Newspaper. Beyond traditional media, he is also a co-founder of Super4news.com, a popular online news platform.

In his convocation address, the Vice-Chancellor of Lead City University, Professor Kabiru Adeyemo, urged the graduands to apply their acquired knowledge to solving real-world problems. “Our graduands have been trained to provide practical solutions to multidimensional challenges across different sectors. Go forth and make a meaningful difference,” he said, stressing that every PhD holder carries both a personal responsibility and the prestige of the university. He also reminded them to remain ambassadors of Lead City University in all their endeavours.

The ceremony also saw the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on four distinguished Nigerians for their contributions to national development. They include Hassan Adebayo Sumonu, Doctor of Science in Public Administration; Mr. Olakinle Williams, Doctor of Administration; Olalekan Bela, Doctor of Business Public Administration; and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Royal Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, who received a Doctor of Science in Public Administration.

Adeloye’s achievement has been widely celebrated in media and academic circles, with colleagues describing it as a testament to perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering dedication. Many noted that his academic success not only elevates his professional profile but also sets a standard for younger journalists and aspiring media professionals who wish to combine practical skills with academic excellence.

Speaking shortly after receiving his doctoral degree, Dr. Adeloye expressed gratitude to his mentors, colleagues, family, and friends who supported him throughout the rigorous journey. “This PhD is not merely a personal milestone, but a reflection of the encouragement, guidance, and inspiration I have received from everyone around me. It is proof that with discipline, focus, and determination, professional success and academic achievement can go hand in hand”, he said.

Dr. Adeloye also highlighted the importance of continuous learning in journalism, noting that the media landscape is evolving rapidly with technology and digital platforms. “To remain relevant, journalists must not only report news but understand and contribute to the theory and practice of communication,” he said.

His doctorate in Mass Communication and Media Technology positions him uniquely to mentor the next generation of Nigerian journalists, blending practical newsroom experience with academic insight.

Colleagues, students, and well-wishers have hailed Adeloye as a role model, emphasizing that his journey underscores the value of perseverance and lifelong learning. His academic accomplishment is particularly significant in a profession where practical experience often outweighs formal qualifications, proving that combining both can elevate professional standards and impact.

As he joins the elite league of PhD holders in Nigeria, Dr. Adeloye’s story resonates with young Nigerians aspiring to achieve excellence against all odds. His journey from newsroom reporting to academic scholarship exemplifies the power of resilience, determination, and vision, inspiring journalists, academics, and students alike.

In a country where academic achievements are celebrated alongside professional milestones, Prince Ade Adeloye’s rise from pen to PhD is a story of triumph, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence, serving as a shining example of what can be achieved when passion meets discipline.

With this milestone, Dr. Adeloye has not only added a prestigious academic title to his name but also cemented his legacy as a journalist, scholar, and mentor, proving that the climb to academic Everest, while challenging, is attainable for those who dare to strive.
