The protracted leadership crisis rocking the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria is expected to reach a decisive point as the National Industrial Court in Abuja prepares to deliver judgment on April 15, 2026.

The development was disclosed by labour activist, Andrew Emelize, who expressed optimism that the long-standing dispute within the union would soon be resolved.

The ASCSN, one of Nigeria’s largest industrial unions and an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, has been embroiled in internal crisis for about four years following the controversial removal of its president, Innocent Bola Audu.

The removal, widely considered by members as unconstitutional, was allegedly carried out by influential figures within the union, triggering a series of legal battles that have lingered ever since.

Although the National Industrial Court reinstated Audu two years ago, he was reportedly prevented from fully resuming office, with the ruling subsequently challenged on appeal. Despite this, Audu has continued to act as president in line with the court’s earlier judgment, even as his tenure remains a subject of contention.

Ahead of the expected ruling, Audu has appealed to members of the union to remain calm and accept the court’s verdict in the interest of peace and the union’s development.

Members and observers alike have expressed optimism that the impending judgment will mark a turning point and bring a lasting end to the crisis that has plagued the union.

Stakeholders say the ruling is likely to be a landmark decision capable of restoring stability and unity within the organisation.
