The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Tuesday expressed appreciation to former Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, for raising the alarm over an alleged plot to remove him from the throne.
Fayose had earlier claimed that there were moves to query the monarch and eventually depose him.
Speaking during a solidarity visit by Fayose to his private residence in Old Bodija, Ibadan, Ladoja thanked the former governor for bringing the development to public attention.
“Thank you for the visit. Thank you for alerting us. I thank you very much,” the monarch said.
He added that Ibadan elders would handle the matter internally, expressing confidence that it would be resolved amicably.
“We still have elders in Ibadan. We will resolve the family affairs. We will resolve it amicably because Ibadan people love their monarch,” he stated.
Earlier, Fayose maintained that the alleged plot against the Olubadan had not abated, insisting that he stood by his earlier claims.
According to him, his disclosures were based on credible information available to him.
“I came to identify with him because of the issues that arose when I made certain revelations about what I knew and the situation at hand. I stand firmly by everything I have said,” he said.
Fayose alleged that the current administration in Oyo State still had an agenda to remove the monarch, though he expressed doubt about the success of such a move.
“Let me state this clearly: the current governor of your state has an agenda to remove you. Whether that plan will succeed is another matter entirely,” he added.
He further claimed that recent developments appeared to support his earlier warnings, noting that events in the last 48 hours suggested ongoing manoeuvres behind the scenes.
Fayose also criticised the alleged interference in traditional institutions, while noting that the tenure of the state governor would soon come to an end.
“The governor has a date with the Constitution of Nigeria, and his tenure will expire next year. The Olubadan, on the other hand, has a date only with destiny and with God,” he said.
He added that political power is transient, stressing that time would ultimately determine the outcome of the situation.
