The Management of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, has announced the appointment of Professor Olajumoke Morenikeji as Vice-Chancellor-designate of the institution.
The appointment follows the conclusion of a rigorous selection process and was approved by the Board of Trustees in accordance with the provisions of the KolaDaisi University Law 2016.
Professor Morenikeji is expected to assume office on 3 August 2026.
According to the University, the appointment was further ratified at the 33rd Statutory Meeting of the Governing Council held on Thursday, 30 April 2026, with members commending the transparency of the selection process.
Professor Morenikeji, a Professor of Zoology since 2016, brings more than 28 years of experience in teaching, research, and university administration to the position.
She holds Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Zoology from the University of Ibadan.
Before her latest appointment, she served as the pioneer Deputy Vice-Chancellor of KolaDaisi University between 2023 and 2025. She has also held several academic and administrative positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Head of the Department of Biological Sciences, and Chairperson of the Faculty Disciplinary Committee.
The University described her career as one marked by sustained commitment to academic excellence, institutional development, and leadership in higher education.
An accomplished scholar, Professor Morenikeji has supervised seven doctoral candidates and authored over 100 academic publications, including books and technical reports.
She is also a member of the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association (USGEAA), Nigeria, and the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) Alumni Association, Nigeria.
The Governing Council urged members of the University community to extend full cooperation to the Vice-Chancellor Designate in the discharge of her duties, expressing confidence in her capacity to lead the institution’s next phase of growth and development.
