A broadcaster and Accord Party governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Oriyomi Hamzat, on Monday formally picked his expression of interest and nomination form at the party’s state secretariat in Yemetu, Ibadan, marking a key step in his bid for the 2027 governorship election.

The exercise attracted a large crowd of party members, supporters, and political observers, who gathered at the secretariat to witness what many described as a significant moment in the party’s emerging political mobilisation ahead of the next general election.

Hamzat, who is widely known for his grassroots influence through Agidigbo FM and his interventions on social issues, was received by party executives and enthusiastic supporters who thronged the venue in solidarity songs, chants, and displays of support.

After completing the formal process of obtaining the nomination form, he addressed party faithful, declaring that his political journey had now moved from intention to execution, adding that “work has started” on his governorship ambition.

According to him, the development signals the beginning of structured mobilisation and wider political engagement across the state, as he seeks to build a movement anchored on popular participation and grassroots connection.

He explained that part of his early mobilisation strategy had included logistical support for supporters, including the provision of buses to ease transportation to the party secretariat. He described the gesture as a demonstration of his preparedness and organisational capacity.

Hamzat said the level of turnout at the event reflected growing enthusiasm for his political aspiration, adding that it also showed the strength of the movement being built around his candidacy.

He also expressed appreciation to his supporters for their loyalty and commitment, describing them as the backbone of his emerging political structure. He urged them not to relent in their support as the journey progresses.

“I want to sincerely appreciate every one of you who came out today. Your energy, your belief, and your presence mean everything to me,” he said.

He further assured party members and supporters that his campaign would focus on issues affecting the people of Oyo State, particularly in areas such as youth empowerment, education, healthcare, and economic development.

Party officials present at the event commended the orderly conduct of supporters and described the turnout as an encouraging sign for the Accord Party’s prospects in the 2027 elections.

The nomination exercise is expected to intensify political activities within the party as aspirants begin formal consultations and mobilisation ahead of the governorship primaries.
