Historic, well-deserved, Senator hails Ladoja’s nomination as Olubadan

In a wave of celebration across Ibadanland, the lawmaker representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Sharafadeen Alli,  has lauded the nomination of former Oyo State Governor, High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, describing it as a historic, well-deserved and unifying development for the ancient city.

In a statement personally signed and released to journalists on Tuesday in Ibadan, the senator—who also holds the revered title of Ekarun-Balogun of Ibadanland—expressed immense joy over the elevation of Oba Ladoja by the Olubadan-in-Council.

According to Senator Alli, the nomination marks a significant moment in the history of Ibadan and showcases the enduring strength of its unique and orderly traditional succession system. He commended the kingmakers for upholding tradition and preserving the peace and harmony that the Ibadan chieftaincy institution is globally known for.



“Oba Ladoja’s emergence is not just a personal achievement but a symbol of the resilience, unity, and cultural pride of the people of Ibadanland,” Alli stated. “It is a reward for his selfless service, unwavering commitment to Ibadan’s progress, and his loyalty to our cherished customs and heritage.”

He further expressed confidence in Oba Ladoja’s ability to bring his wealth of political experience, maturity, and wisdom into the administration of the traditional institution, asserting that Ibadanland stands to benefit immensely from his reign.The lawmaker, who described Oba Ladoja as his father, leader, and mentor, pledged full support for the incoming monarch, reaffirming his personal commitment to the growth and prosperity of Ibadan.



Alli called on all sons and daughters of Ibadan, both at home and abroad, to unite behind the new Olubadan in the interest of the city’s collective progress.

He also offered prayers for Oba Ladoja’s reign to be peaceful, prosperous, and impactful, saying, “May Almighty God grant our new Olubadan long life, sound health, and divine wisdom to lead Ibadan to greater heights.”
