The 2027 Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Oyo State and former Deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, has commended President Bola Tinubu, the nation’s security agencies and all those involved in the successful rescue of the pupils, teachers and other victims abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Gbolarumi described the release of the victims as a major relief for their families, the affected communities and the entire state, saying the development underscored the importance of coordinated security operations in tackling criminality.
In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, the former deputy governor praised President Tinubu for providing the leadership and support that enabled security agencies to carry out the rescue operation successfully.
He also applauded the professionalism, resilience and commitment displayed by the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), local vigilantes and other security operatives who participated in the operation.
According to him, the successful rescue has renewed public confidence in the nation’s security architecture and demonstrated that with synergy among security agencies, criminal elements can be effectively confronted.
Gbolarumi expressed sympathy with the victims and their families over the traumatic experience they endured, praying for their quick recovery and reintegration into normal life.
He urged the government at all levels not to relent in strengthening security across schools and vulnerable communities, particularly in rural areas, to forestall similar incidents.
The PDP chieftain also called for sustained intelligence gathering, improved surveillance and enhanced collaboration between security agencies and local communities to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes.
While congratulating the people of Oyo State on the successful rescue, Gbolarumi reaffirmed the need for continued vigilance and collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and property, stressing that the security of citizens remains a shared responsibility.
He prayed for lasting peace across Oyo State and Nigeria, urging security agencies to sustain the momentum in the fight against criminality and ensure that those responsible for the abduction are brought to justice.
