Speaking on behalf of the Provost of the college, Professor Jonathan J. Atungwu, the Deputy Provost (Administration), Musiliu O. Adenekan, said the reactivation of the SERVICOM Unit was aimed at repositioning the institution towards improved accountability, transparency and responsiveness in public service delivery.

Adenekan noted that although SERVICOM previously existed in the college, the initiative was being revitalised to align with contemporary standards of institutional effectiveness and customer-focused administration.

The guest lecturer, Oluseye Ezekiel Awe, spoke on governance, public service delivery and institutional reforms in Nigeria, describing government as a major provider of essential services such as education, healthcare, immigration and road safety.

According to him, the establishment of SERVICOM in 2004 was designed to bridge the gap between citizens’ expectations and the quality of services provided by public institutions through improved efficiency, complaint resolution mechanisms and clearly defined service standards.

During an interactive session, participants assessed the quality of service delivery in several public institutions, with many expressing concerns over inefficiency and poor customer satisfaction across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

The newly inaugurated SERVICOM Unit of the college is headed by Mary O. Oluleke and includes Mrs. Tolani Adedotun, Mr. Azeez Issa, Mr. Olurotimi B. Agbaje, Mr. Chukwunonso Okonkwo, Mr. Oladimeji Akinfoyeku, Mrs. Idowu Taiwo, Mr. O. S. Omotomogun and Mr. Akinloye.

In her remarks, Oluleke expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the committee and appealed for the support and cooperation of staff and stakeholders across the college community.

She urged staff and students to utilise available communication and feedback channels to promote effective service delivery, while reaffirming the unit’s commitment to accountability, responsiveness and continuous improvement in both academic and administrative services.

The management of the college reiterated its commitment to strengthening institutional systems and enhancing service delivery across all departments under the leadership of the Provost, Professor Atungwu.
