The presentation took place at Ogunlesi Hall, University College Hospital, Ibadan, during a gathering attended by party leaders and supporters from across the country.
Among those present were APM governor candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi; Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; APM governorship candidates in states, federal lawmakers, and member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, Abass Adigun Agboworin, and others.
Also in attendance were APM state chairmen, members of the party’s National Working Committee, including the National Secretary and National Organising Secretary, Bashir Bala.
Speaking at the event, Adekanmbi said party stakeholders had resolved to rally behind Makinde’s political aspirations beyond Oyo State.
“We are determined that in 2027, Makinde is moving higher,” he declared, drawing applause from party faithful.
The affirmation was subsequently endorsed by APM state chairmen and national officers, who pledged their support for the governor’s emergence as the party’s standard-bearer.
Handing over the party flag, Dantalle described Makinde as a seasoned politician with a track record of electoral victories and governance.
According to him, the endorsement marked the beginning of what he called the governor’s journey towards the nation’s highest office.
“By this affirmation, you stand elected as the candidate of APM in the 2027 presidential election,” Dantalle said.
“Makinde is a political warrior who has won many political battles. With this emergence, the long-expected journey to the presidency has just begun.”
Makinde, who is serving his second term as governor of Oyo State, has yet to formally declare his intention to contest the presidency. However, the development is expected to fuel political discussions ahead of the 2027 general election.
