Communication scholars and professionals in Oyo State have constituted their pioneer executive council to steer the affairs of the state chapter of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), with Professor Titiloye Oyeyinka Ojo of KolaDaisi University (KDU), Ibadan, emerging as State Coordinator.
The executives, comprising academics and media professionals drawn from tertiary institutions and media organisations across the state, emerged during a webinar organised by the national leadership of the association.
They are expected to coordinate the association’s activities in the state, deepen collaboration between communication scholars and practitioners, advance evidence-based practice in media and strategic communication, encourage research and professional development, and contribute to policy discussions on the communication ecosystem.
Dr. Waheed Bayonle Busari, a Reader and Head of Department of Communication and Media Technology, Lead City University, Ibadan, was named Deputy Coordinator, while The Guardian correspondent in Oyo State, Mr. Rotimi Agboluaje, emerged as Secretary.
Mrs. Vivien Akin-Morakinyo of Lead City University, Ibadan, was appointed as Assistant Secretary, while Dr. Adenike Omotayo Okeya-Olayinka of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, will serve as Treasurer.
Also named to the executive council are Mrs. Olawore Opeyemi of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, as Mobilisation Officer; Ms. Tumilara Ademujimi of Splash FM, Ibadan, as Publicity Secretary; Dr. Onaopepo Ibrahim of KolaDaisi University as Welfare and Logistics Officer; and Mrs. Mofe Okerentie Chibueze of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, as Auditor.
ACSPN is Nigeria’s foremost professional association dedicated to advancing research, scholarship and evidence-based practice in communication, media and related disciplines. The association is led nationally by Professor Rotimi Olatunji of Lagos State University, while veteran journalist Mr. Lanre Arogundade serves as South-West Coordinator.
