The Osun State Government will on Wednesday present the 2025 Imole Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) Scholarship Award to a student of The Wings Schools, Iwo, following his emergence as the best candidate in Iwo Local Government Area in the 2025 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results.
The awardee, Master Abdulrazaq Ajibola Olurode, was selected after a comprehensive review and verification of academic records across public and private schools in the state conducted by Electronic Collections Group (ECG).
Governor Ademola Adeleke is expected to present the award at a ceremony scheduled to hold at Prince Olagunsoye Hall of Osun State University, Osogbo.
Olurode, described by his school as a quiet and disciplined student, served as Senior Prefect Boy during his time at The Wings Secondary School, Iwo. He is currently studying Medicine and Surgery at the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun.
The management of The Wings Schools, Iwo, commended the state government for recognising academic excellence among secondary school students, noting that such initiatives would encourage healthy competition and improve educational standards.
It also recalled that the school’s proprietor was recently honoured with a merit award for contributions to education in 2025.
In addition to the student, his parents—Professor Dhikrullah Olurode of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and Alhaja Olurode, a school Vice principal in Ibadan—are expected to receive recognition at the event.
Also billed for honours are the school’s principal, Mr. K.T. Sanusi, and the subject teachers who contributed to the student’s academic success.
The ceremony is part of the state government’s broader effort to promote academic excellence and reward outstanding performance among students in Osun.
