NANS, in a statement issued by its National Presidential Spokesperson, Alao John Oluwadamilola, said the appointment reflected excellence, integrity and leadership.
The student body described Mrs. Samson as one of Nigeria’s most respected indigenous entrepreneurs whose achievements in the oil and gas sector continue to inspire young Nigerians and students across the country.
According to the statement, her emergence as Chancellor was not only a recognition of her contributions to economic growth and job creation but also an acknowledgement of her reputation for discipline, accountability and service.
NANS noted that Mrs. Samson built BOVAS Oil and Gas from a single filling station into one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous oil and gas companies with over 200 service stations nationwide.
The association added that her success story demonstrated resilience, business intelligence and commitment to national development.
It also highlighted her emergence as the first Nigerian to win the Texaco Latin America and West Africa Award for Best Overall Dealer, describing the feat as evidence of professionalism and excellence.
The students’ body expressed confidence that her wealth of experience and leadership exposure would contribute positively to the growth and institutional advancement of Osun State University.
NANS further praised Governor Adeleke for what it described as a strategic appointment capable of strengthening confidence in the education sector and encouraging stronger collaboration between tertiary institutions and accomplished private sector leaders.
The association maintained that the governor’s action underscored his administration’s commitment to educational development, leadership promotion and institutional growth in Osun State.
It also wished the new Chancellor a successful and impactful tenure, expressing optimism that she would contribute significantly to academic excellence, mentorship and moral leadership within the university community.
