The Olayinka Aderinkola Akinrinola Foundation (OAAF) has marked the 21st wedding anniversary of its Founder, Prophetess (Mrs) Olayinka Akinrinola, and Co-Founder, Mr Aderinkola Akinrinola, with a food distribution outreach to less privileged members of the public across five communities in Lagos State.

The outreach, which took place on Friday, August 21, 2026, covered Bariga, Akoka, Yaba, Oyingbo and Ebute Meta, where members of the foundation distributed food items to vulnerable individuals and families.

The initiative was organised as part of activities celebrating the founders’ 21 years of marriage. Rather than limiting the celebration to a private occasion, the founders chose to mark the milestone by extending support to people within underserved communities.

Speaking on the initiative, the Project Manager of OAAF, Mr Dara Adenekan, said the outreach reflects the foundation’s commitment to taking practical support directly to communities.

“This outreach is a reflection of what OAAF believes in. We believe that celebrating important milestones should also create an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of other people. We visited five communities because we wanted the celebration to reach beyond our immediate circle and touch people who are facing real economic challenges.”

He added that the foundation plans to continue developing more structured interventions that address both immediate needs and the long-term challenges affecting vulnerable Nigerians.

Also speaking, the foundation’s Information Technology Manager, Mr Olonisola Emmanuel, said community-based initiatives remain important in understanding and responding to the realities faced by people at the grassroots.

“Technology can help us connect people and share information, but social impact ultimately requires us to reach people where they are. This outreach gave us the opportunity to engage directly with communities and understand some of the challenges people face. We hope to combine technology, community engagement and strategic partnerships to reach more beneficiaries in the future.”

A member of the organisation, Mrs Oluwatosin Adebajo, described the experience of participating in the outreach as a reminder of the importance of compassion and community support.

“Being part of this outreach was deeply fulfilling. You see people from different backgrounds, each with their own challenges, and you realise how much a simple gesture can mean to someone. We were not just distributing food; we were reminding people that they matter and that there are people who care about their well-being.”

The food distribution provided immediate assistance to individuals and families experiencing economic hardship across the five communities.

The anniversary outreach forms part of OAAF’s broader community engagement activities aimed at supporting vulnerable people and strengthening communities across Nigeria.

The foundation recently renewed its strategic focus around three key areas: child development and protection, women’s economic empowerment, and mental health support. OAAF is working to develop more focused and sustainable programmes around these areas while continuing to respond to urgent needs within underserved communities.

The foundation believes that meaningful social impact requires both immediate relief and long-term interventions that address the factors that keep individuals and families vulnerable.

As Prophetess Olayinka Akinrinola and Mr Aderinkola Akinrinola celebrate 21 years of marriage, OAAF says the outreach represents their shared commitment to service, compassion and giving back to society.
